Here it is, Monday. It's been a while since I've last posted anything of substance. Looking back, there've been the political posts, all excited about the election, there've been some LOL Cat posts, and a lot of posts about dragons from the cave, but nothing real.

So - Without further ado, I give you an update on the state of The Tanuki.

Job: Well, I started this job in May. I was excited to have an office all to myself. I mean, really, I came from cube-farm land, where prairie-doggers could be seen a mile away. So getting an office with a door that closes and allows for some privacy was a welcome change. But that's about where it ended. When I started this job, my boss (who resides in TX) made a very clear point that if I needed anything all I had to do was ask. And I took him at face value and started asking. The part he didn't tell me was that, sure, all I had to do was ask, but there wouldn't necessarily be any results.

The first thing I asked for was some sort of table or bench I could do computer repair work on (I have a large office). After about a week, he came back to me and asked if I'd had any luck finding a table and that I should just check around the facility to see if there were any extras. While, technically, there weren't I did end up stealing a table from a conference room (had to disassemble the table to get it out of the room, but now I have my table).

Next, after some issues where I was away from my desk, working with a customer and some other fire started, they decided they wanted me to have a cell phone (I refuse to use my personal one for work purposes). So, I was told I needed to order it. So, I went about trying to find out who to order it from. Once I found that, there was some difficulty with which department was supposed to be billed for it. There was one point that no one was sure who was actually paying for my contract and they asked me to find out from my agency. This process all started about the middle of this last July. I still don't have a cell phone, but it is looking promising - I was told it should be in sometime this week. I'll believe it when I see it.

Then there's the issue of "spare" equipment. In every position I've worked in previously, there has been spare equipment available to resolve an issue with a customer rapidly so you could deal with getting hardware repaired and not have to have a customer down for an extended period of time. Only, that's not how it works around here. I've had to explain on several occasions how "crappy" our customer service is to my manager. He agrees with me, but then nothing happens. Although the issue of spare equipment may be a moot point now, as I'm getting some back from people who left/were let go last week.

Oh - and speaking of letting people go last week... we had a doosey. One of the employees took one of the digital cameras to the restroom with him and took some pictures of himself (presumably for a Craigslist ad or something). The problem is that he left the pics on the camera. Someone else, later, used the camera to take pictures of the factory equipment and downloaded the pictures from the camera... An HR issue ensued. Employee #1 was fired. And the pictures weren't even that good.

Personal: So, Faerieworlds was in August. Saw a bunch of old friends and met some new people. One of these new people caught my eye a bit. On a visit to Seattle, got to have brunch with her and her roomies and other friends, which led to a hug... an extra long hug... a hug that would lead to IM discussions and talking of how I'm feeling and how she's feeling and how we're both feeling, which led to [livejournal.com profile] siouxiequeue's art show opening, where [livejournal.com profile] libraryraven and I just stood toward the back of the show, watching Gaia Consort play, holding each other and beaming and smiling. Now, we're talking and planning what we're going to do on my next visit to Seattle. Soon... Very soon...

Also - been taking pictures for Chimera Fancies and for Polidori Chocolates... I've had a lot of fun taking some of those pictures and cleaning them up and learning what I need to do to get clear, well lit pictures. I have to admit, I didn't take as many pictures at Faerieworlds this year as I was wanting to participate more, rather than watch. I've been to a couple of shows since where I would have loved to have gotten pictures, but lighting has been a challenge with getting pictures that didn't blur. Looks like I need to learn how to better deal with those types of situations.

And life with The New Kitteh has been much fun! Even though she thinks I'm made for climbing and I have scratches all over my legs and my chest right now... She appears to have a hearing impediment which is also affecting her ability to jump up on things. She seems to jump down without any issues, which is a good thing. And she is just a lover when she isn't Kitteh Fierce! It seems that she's also turning out to be a daddy cat. She loves to curl up on my lap and sack out.

And that's what's going on with me... More to come soon, I'm sure. :D
