Dec. 10th, 2012 12:30 pmWhere did November Go?
Nov. 30th, 2012 12:36 pmFriday brings us to the end of another week, and to the end of the month. It’s been an exciting month both personally and artistically around these parts. It’s been a month that just flew by. It’s been a month of firsts and a month of lasts. Today’s photo captures some of that ‘moodiness’ that November has brought.

Landlubber – The Band That Never Was
Nov. 28th, 2012 12:30 pmYears ago I dreamed of starting my own band. I was going to be the singer for a folk rock band like Great Big Sea. While the idea never got much out of the dreaming stages, I did have an idea for what the first album cover should look like, so I put it together. It was an exercise in learning vector graphics, as much as it was a way for me to express my dream in some tangible way.
While I never did get a band put together, this did spark my imagination in another way, and helped guide me in my path to being a photographer.

Autumn has fallen upon us all at once, and Seattle is shrouded in grey skies and pouring rain; it’s so dark and gloomy out sometimes, that it starts taking on the feel of a film noire movie. So let me set the stage for today’s photo: A small, dimly lit club, people chatting, drinks being poured, plates and silverware tinkling. A band takes the stage and from the back corner the bassist plunks out a note that causes the patrons and staff to halt their conversations in anticipation of the evenings entertainment. And the band plays on…
I hope you all have a great holiday!

Fire Week Continues!
Oct. 31st, 2012 10:38 amSome pictures speak for themselves. Frankly, I think this one just goes to show what a ‘fan’ of the fire arts I am.
This photo was taken with my Canon Rebel EOS T2i camera and the Nikon Series E 50mm 1:1.8 lens. The ISO was set to 800 and the apeture was set to 1.8. The shutter speed was 1/800. The photo was processed in Adobe Lightroom 4.2.
It's Fire Week!
Oct. 30th, 2012 10:02 amFire. There's something in the back of our lizard brain that tells us to be afraid of it. It can be devastating. It can destroy without any malice at all. Most of us know enough to use it as a tool and otherwise leave it well enough alone.
But there are others. You know the ones. The ones who are drawn to fire, to understand it, to tame it. These people know full well the pain fire can cause, but they also know its beauty.
This week is fire week. Welcome and enjoy the beauty.
