So, one of the tasks I have at work is going through our spam filter to see if there are any REAL messages that got caught. Doing so today, I came across a couple of subject lines that had my imagination going. Not going to open the spam, but...

"Woman caught on the street getting coffee..."

Like, was she not supposed to be on the street? Is she a dungeon prisoner? Is she not allowed coffee? Is she Mormon? How did you catch her? A net? On camera? A net? I bet it was a net. Is getting coffee illegal?
So many questions.

"Hair gel regrows ALL your hair"
I don't want it to regrow ALL my hair. I'm like a hairy guy. That'd just be awkward. All that extra nose and ear hair... Will my existing hair grow more? Will my arm hair become a pelt? Will my leg hair become a carpet? That would be a nightmare. I'd look like a damn werewolf or a bear or something.

Hey all y'all! I've been on a quest today in search of latin words for certain things. Specifically, I'm looking for the latin words for caffeine and/or coffee.

I have found no equivilent word for caffeine so far. This is the word I most want to see a translation for. Seriously, how does one go to the Vatican and as for the beverage with the most caffeine? There has to be a way.

The closest I have found for coffee is 'capulus' which also means either coffin or sword and I see the possibility for much confusion there.

I did find one place where coffee was translated to 'coffeum' but I fin this highly suspect.

So, hivemind, what do you know about latin that I don't where it comes to my coffee / caffeine?

Warning: Navel gazing ahead.

Since [livejournal.com profile] copperwise and I separated, I've been working on answering a question. Who am I? That's what I'm going to ponder here. )

Most of all, I see myself as a good person. And I think that's really the most I can ask of myself.

I guess the subtle heroes need subtle villains too.

Last night I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I will probably talk about that in a later post. Right now I'm here to talk about one of the previews I witnessed last night.

So, the first preview that caught my attention was The Karate Kid. I put aside my preconceptions about this remake of one of my childhood favorites and watched. The remake stars Jaden Smith in the 'Daniel-san' role of Dre Parker and Jackie Chan in the 'Miyagi-san' role of Mr. Han. According to what we're shown, Dre and his mother move to, not just a new town, but a new country (China) for reasons that aren't entirely clear, but I'm sure they're pretty good. Dre meets a pretty girl, has issues with the local boys who then proceed to beat him up. He then meets the wise Mr. Han who teaches him the ways of martial arts, yadda... yadda... yadda...

We all know the story. If you don't, go rent the first Karate kid.

While watching this, a couple of things really came across to me here. The first, it appears that Smith and Chan really have a chemistry here. I think that I might actually like this one when it comes out. The second thing that came across was my realization that while I'm going to like the movie, I hate the title. Now don't get me wrong here. I think I'm going to like the movie. I like the story, and really don't mind that they're remaking it. The title of the movie is 'The Karate Kid'. Karate. There it is.

Smith's character is in CHINA! He's learning from JACKIE FREAKIN' CHAN! Is he learning KARATE??? NO! He's learning (say it with me) KUNG FU! This movie would be perfectly fine with me if it were named The Kung Fu Kid, but it's not. So there you have my entire complaint about this upcoming movie. Take it for what you think it's worth.

Yes I know. I haven't posted for a while and a lot has been going on. I'm hoping this will be the first of more frequent posting.

OryCon was a whole lot of fun. I am extremely happy with all the pictures I took as are a lot of other people. I've even had a couple of peole ask if I'm a professional. While not yet, I think I'm getting to the point of being a bit more than a hobbyist.

I've been thinking about it for a while now and am really wondering what might be the next logical step. I was thinking about some classes at the local college specifically about digital photography and Photoshop for digital photography. I could always use more skills.

I think I could use more experience with posed photography too. I've tentatively scheduled a photo shoot for this summer and have some ideas, but could really use some suggestions.

This is mostly me just thinking out loud, but comments are most certainly welcome.
