Woodland Park Zoo - March 2012

Happy Wednesday everyone! Originally, I was going to talk about movement and flow and was going to have something really deep and profound to say about that.

Instead I’m going to talk about an exciting change. There is now one easy place to go to see ALL of the previously posted photos! Just click on the link above to the Gallery! In addition, I’ve updated the blogroll on the right with a few new links.

And don’t forget to swing by A Rising Tide and pick a little something up for the wall to spruce up your place!

Memorial Day Weekend 2012 by tanuki_green
Memorial Day Weekend 2012, a photo by tanuki_green on Flickr.

The sun is starting to fade in these parts. The weather is changing. The rains are coming. It’s fall and there’s a wonder to this time of the year.

But before we welcome in the joys that the coming season brings us, let’s say one last goodbye to the bright sunshine, warm days and all that we’ve just been through. Lets celebrate peeking through the trees to find the sun, warming us with its steady gaze.

Goodbye, Summer. It was a good one this year. Hello, Fall! I welcome you with anticipation of wonderful things to come.

Every now and then I feel like the odd man out, like an odd duck. I realize I’m different than a lot of people. On the other hand, I don’t subscribe to a standard definition of ‘normal’.

I have some problems with the term ‘normal’. The first is that it is supposed to be a term for what is generally accepted by the population as acceptable. Since this is an ever-changing idea, the definition changes. Secondly, it represents what is average about society.

I don’t want to be average. I want to be extraordinary. I have my talents. They are different talents from many people. And they are mine. Just like the crow here is different, he (and I) can soar amazingly high!

Feast of St. Crispy 2012 by tanuki_green
Feast of St. Crispy 2012, a photo by tanuki_green on Flickr.

This is a perfect allegory for tonight! This bunny is awesome! This bunny is deadly. This bunny will tear you apart without warning. This bunny is going to tear an opponent apart inside a steel cage tonight! This bunny is the best in the world and demands respect.

But because he is in a purple basket, he gets no respect. And the more he screams about wanting respect, the less people give it. But he is best in the world.

What the bunny needs to see is that respect comes from within first. Respect yourself and show integrity. If you have that, respect will from others will follow.

Thomas by tanuki_green
Thomas, a photo by tanuki_green on Flickr.

Hi folks! Wednesday almost got away from me. I almost forgot what I was doing and didn’t post anything today. How tragic would that have been?

Here we see Thomas. His actual full name is Thomas Price Lin Rhymer Taylor McGuire, and from that you may be able to guess who his person is.

This shot was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T2i at ISO 200 and an exposure of 1/10. There’s no lens info on the EXIF data, but if I recall correctly, I was using my Series E 50mm 1:1.8 lens. I suspect from the other settings the aperture was set to f/4.0 but can’t be entirely sure.

I either need to log these better or get some real digital lenses that will encode the photos for me. Either way, that’ll come soon enough.

While I was retouching photos, I thought I’d take a stab at updating this one as well. The original had a very yellow hue to it. I wanted to give it a more dream-like quality to it and this is what I ended up with.
